The Maritime Safety Division is generally responsible for the inspections and survey of vessels, their hull, machinery and equipment, the handling and stowage of ship’s cargoes, and cargo handling gear. Some other responsibilities include, registration and licensing of ships, the training, examining and certification of local Seafarers, marine pollution prevention, and wreck and salvage.This division is also responsible for Maritime Search and Rescue (SAR).
